Let me ask you this beauties? Are you ready to take the next step in the journey?

When I look back on my own journey, there is another side to detoxing that’s not just your food choices. It is the glorious process of removing chemicals from your pantry, your laundry cupboard and your bathroom vanity. After all, being a conscious beauty is as much about what you put on your skin as the toxins that surround you every day. Whether they be found in your food, your household cleaners or your beauty products.

Unfortunately, our exposure to chemicals and toxins is much more prolific that we are often made aware of, because glamorous marketing has us believing we need something while concealing the real truth about what’s inside. Don’t fear beauties, we are not here for a chemistry or marketing lesson, instead let us look together at what is involved in a typical cupboard detox.

This time last week were rolling along in the car through the countryside of Tasmania soaking up the glorious wide open spaces that the island has to offer. My husband and I, were chatting and listening to Triple J radio when suddenly my little ears pricked up. The news story was examining the role of mircroplastics in beauty products and it’s connection with the environment.

Microplastics? Say what?

Even hearing that word rings alarm bells in my head, and the thought of it being in beauty products we use every day had me screaming WTF!

The particular radio story that caught my attention was acknowledging the recent visit by Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands. As the President of Fauna and Flora International, she was in Australia to raise awareness around the environmental impact of mircroplastics – in particular as an ingredient in beauty products.

oils for dry hair image

If you are anything like me, my body doesn’t respond well to the cold. The visible signs of a change in season aren’t always that flattering, my skin gets a little dryer as the air cools and we dive for hot showers.

But the one thing that has left me a little embarrassed of late, is a dry scalp. Ewwww….I know, embarrassing huh!

And you know what? I realised that some of our beauties out there might be suffering the same, so we decided to put together 5 natural and easy ways to say goodbye to dryness.

Favourite Finds – Why we’re loving Jacqueline Evans

April 9, 2014

Jacqueline Evans Organic Beauty Products

You may recall, a little while ago Ruby wrote about one of her favourite finds of the moment – Jacqueline Evans Jojoba and Camellia Nut Balancing cream. Although this was our first experience with her products, we were quickly converted.

Well guess what beauties – we have more to tell!

A Conscious Beauty was fortunate enough to be gifted one of the Jacqueline Evans sample packs from the lovely lady herself. The set of four little sample pots can be bought from Jacqueline’s own store and are a fabulous way to get familiar with one her cleansers, a scrub and two of her moisturisers. As the products are rich in quality, you only need a little so they do last a couple of days.

Our biggest tip from the Green Beauty 101 series

basics of green beauty

After twisting and turning our way through the chemical maze these past 5 weeks, you might be left thinking, so where do I go from here?

Are you still confused?

I totally hear ya girl! Even though I have been on the green beauty train for a long time, I am continually learning. The trick for me, was knowing a few key ingredients to look out for and finding the brands I can trust. Brand trust, from a truly authentic and ethical place.

The aim of our series was to give you an insight into a handful of ‘toxic’ ingredients which we found were commonly singled out as the one’s to look out for. This was a process of scouring the internet and reading my way through my favourite text – The Green Beauty Guide.
