3 simple tools to transform your money beliefs

June 16, 2017

If you find yourself landing on this blog post today, then welcome to part two of our series on money.

In working with many over the past year, I noticed that our relationship with money can be a little sticky. A subject that we don’t feel comfortable talking about or experience a loss of confidence when it comes to money and making powerful choices.

In the first part of this three-part series on money, I asked you to complete this set of questions (download HERE).

Together, we looked at your history and past experiences, to find out whether this may have a bearing on what beliefs you hold today – especially if money makes you nervous.

The reason I asked you to look into your past, is that some of the beliefs you have today, you may have unconsciously carried through your life. Your actions today, may be a reaction to those past experiences – for fear of repeating a cycle – perhaps you don’t want to experience what your parents went through.

Why detoxing your life will make goal setting a dream (plus 5 actions to take now)

January 18, 2017

Today I wanted to share with you a short and sweet video on something I recently did. Being new year and all, and I call it a ‘life detox’. A sort of spring clean of the non essentials!

So why do I call it a life detox?

A life detox is super important for anyone who is itching to lay down some killer goals but feel like they’ve got all these things in the way of doing it.

Chances are your physical clutter is what’s creating those ‘blocking’ feelings that are stopping you for getting stuck in.

A life detox is simply:

…a collection of actions we do to create space, clarity and more JOY in our lives.

As Marie Kondo says in her book the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up –

“A dramatic reorganisation of the home causes dramatic changes in lifestyle and perspective. It is life transforming”

WOW!

So, why you do it?

Many of us will be in full swing of setting intentions, creating goals and planning for 2017.

BUT

Before we get too carried away with goals, to do lists and strategies, from now on, I will always recommend you perform a life detox.

Just like a detox that we might do with our diet – detoxing your life (which encompasses your possessions and spaces), we are aiming for a feeling of lightness, of possibility and some big fat clarity.

By taking action with our physical space, we are removing unwanted distractions to increase productivity, creativity, and create dedicated space and time for rituals & habits that will bring long term reward.

The big fat bonus – we will have less to keep tidy and everything we use in our home has purpose, is of quality, has a function and brings us JOY.

So here are my 5 actions you can start today, in no particular order:

//   Follow the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up process – one category at a time (not area of the house), books & magazines, clothing, linen, kitchen utensils. Book in enough time that you are able to complete one category before moving on to the next. This next step is just as important. Find resources to: a) give it away or help someone or something in need or b) sell it. Don’t just take the items to another room or your garage for a rainy day!

//   Clear and create your workstation – scan paperwork/receipts to a digital format and reduce down any necessary paperwork. Add some greenery, crystals a candle and inspirational images. Make your workspace a pleasurable place to be!

//   Reduce you screen time to allow you to focus on the fun stuff: Open your inbox and unsubscribe like a mofo. Chances are you open an email and delete it straight away. I do this regularly to ensure I’m only getting the inputs I really need. Second thing you can do is buy yourself a real alarm clock – this is my favourite and I can honestly say that this one action alone has radically changed my life. Third thing, set ‘no screen’ zones in the house (#1 should be the bedroom) and create agreed power down times – a time of day when all mobiles and laptops are put away.

//   Create a dedicated meditation or yoga space: this doesn’t have to be a separate room but having your essentials on hand or in a dedicated area of the house. Some of my favourite essentials include: a yoga mat, crystals, music, bolster, timer etc.

//   Desire Mapping! Why? because knowing how you want to feel and what success looks like to you makes goal setting utterly pleasurable. The first four actions were primarily related to spaces and possessions, but this one is about sifting through all the ways  we could feel about specific areas of our life. This process has literally changed my whole entire view of success, goal setting and the no.1 thing I do before I set any goals.

Pop on over to my resources page to find out more about The Desire Map.

There are SO many life areas we could dive into today, but these are just a few of the essentials to get you started and have you feeling clearer, calmer and a little more joyful.

Beautiful, do you feel called to come together and create a deeper connection to yourself, your career and your relationships?

Good news is that connection already exists within you. Right now you’re not sure how to go deeper? Then let’s do it together, fully supported.

Finding love – a journey from the head to the heart

November 25, 2016
You are ready to take a risk and bust out in life, but something always stops you. You feel like your mind overpowers your decisions over and over again. The head says NO don’t jump!

Sound familiar?

It certainly was the case for me. Until recently, my head led the way in every decision I made. I was stuck on the “how’s”, the “shoulds” and the “buts”…

The signs that I was stuck in my head showed up for me in these 8 ways – the most obvious was how I felt about my career direction.

And then one day I decided to put an end to feeling stuck and confused and made a couple of heart driven choices that majorly changed the game. Instead of a predictable linear path (that my mind craved), life was closer to a ‘choose your own adventure’ book.

Yep. You might say I quit. I say, things are just getting started.

8 signs your busy mind is keeping you disconnected (from my own experience)

November 14, 2016

Do you feel like no matter what you do, you can’t stop the constant chatter in your head?

Do you fall asleep at night running to-do lists, solving that sticky problem from the office, or your body so exhausted all you can do is wish tomorrow was the weekend.

Do you wake up and it starts all over again.

Anxious about that deadline, that meeting with a new client or what you’re boss is going to say that would have you feel about 2 feet tall.

This was me, for most of my early adult life.

The noise.

How was I going to make it stop?

On the surface I held it together, but deep down I was stuck and I knew something had to change. Over twenty-something years I had slowly unravelled the connection to my heart. The place I could go that was true.

Pure freedom.

I desired to be free of the noise and deeply connected at the same time.

You can stop waiting for the permission slip

February 1, 2016
Right now I’m dancing my way through Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, so I’m not going to lie about my inspiration for the title of this post.

See Elizabeth Gilbert understands permission like no other. Over the years she’s progressively unschooled herself in what it means to live a creative life. On every page you can devour her lessons from the journey thus far, all while creating ‘whatever causes a revolution in your heart’. Among the anecdotal notes, she generously shares with the reader a whole chapter on permission.

Today, I wanted to share with you a recent discovery I had on this very subject.

Discoveries come at the strangest of times and not to mention in the strangest of places – in the shower, on the toilet, driving to work. Today, permission cracked me wide open in an interesting place.

Picture this common setting, the local pool, screams, laughter and the slapping of water as bodies hit the surface. I happened to have Big Magic open on this day and usually struggle to pull myself out of its vortex, but on this occasion a scene played out in front of me that stopped me in my tracks.
