How these four entrepreneurs guided a dramatic career change

March 13, 2018
With the wealth of books, blogs, trainings and information available to us today, we can inspire the pants off ourselves every moment of the day.

But how many of these people (even if online or in books in my case) actually continue to inspire you five years on?

The very people that tell you exactly that nugget-o-wisdom exactly when you need it.

In the case of doing a 180 in my career, new ways of thinking, direction and encouragement was needed often to break through moments of confusion and fear.

These four people below, shaped my path from practising Architect to Life Coach five years later (while doing a number of other things in between). I still call on their wisdom, their quirkiness and original thinking to support my journey into business.

Because, as I mention in the video, you can’t and you shouldn’t feel like you have to do it alone.

The secret to being truly authentic in your life and work

March 6, 2018

Authenticity is a mega-buzz-word in the spiritual/personal development circles.

Every day quotes on Instagram about it.

Social media is a perfect avenue for this new found freedom. We can do a no make-up selfie without a care in the world (although thank god some days they created filters!).

Inspiring yes, but at the same time is leaving us quite confused about what authenticity really is. Including myself. To the point where the word kinda started to bug me a little.

Truth be told, authenticity, whether I like the word or not, is sexy. When I meet someone who knows who they truly are and they live through that, it’s magnetic.

My husband is one of those cool cats. Which is why today I wanted to share a recent conversation we had on the subject. He shared with me what it looks like to live authentically, and how you can know when you’re being truly authentic. Thanks hubs.

How I work with fear and so can you

February 9, 2018

About four years ago, at a personal development seminar, I stood up in front of a room of a hundred people (absolutely sweating) and declared that I wanted to be fearless.

At the time I felt like some kind of superhero, to be without fear was the dream.

Within the time of making my declaration,  I’d made some pretty major changes in my life and I thought leaping in head first and showing fear who’s boss, would cure me of it’s grip.

Sadly not.

In fact I never became “fearless”.

How to find direction in life when you’re multi-passionate

February 6, 2018

Some of you might know of Albert Einstein.

There are some similarities between me and old Albert. Like me, he was a multi-passionate guy. You too?

Perhaps you didn’t know this because Einstein was most notable for his groundbreaking scientific theory. This is what we know well, but it’s not the full story.

I’m highly intrigued by what makes the ‘genius’ tick. It often has me reading about people waaay outside my field of work. (Side note: this is usually when the best discoveries happen). So when I started reading about the man with the crazy white hair, I discovered a whole other side to him I never knew.

The guy was extremely multi-passionate.

My favourite books and podcasts to inspire, expand and enlighten you

December 23, 2015

One of my core-desired feelings is Inspired and one way to guarantee I’m filled to the brim is learning.

This year, a stack of books often accompanied my gratitude and meditation journals next to my bed. While I’m not the fastest reader on the planet, a handful of carefully chosen books have become ‘references’ throughout my journey – and even more so as I transition into life coaching.

These holidays, if you are looking to indulge in a little downtime with a book or two, then I present in no particular order, my 2015 favourites:

Playing Big – by Tara Mohr

I began reading Tara’s book around the same time I declared that I wanted to transition to coaching women, about 6 months ago. I stumbled upon this gem as I was heading away on a holiday with my husband and it seemed like an appropriate time to shift my mindset and up the ante. In the book, Tara takes you through a series of insights discovered through her own life and work as the founder of the Playing Big leadership program. Each chapter asks you a series of journalling questions which allow you to gain insight into how you can move from playing small to playing big.
