A Conscious Beauty on daily morning rituals

July 7, 2014
Do you have a morning ritual? something that is special and unique to you that you can’t start the day without?

In the last few weeks you may have noticed our little series centred around morning rituals. These rituals I like to do to nurture inner beauty and self-love, create glowing outer beauty and increase my intake of beauty foods. Today, I wanted to share with you the real meaning behind my morning routine.

My belief is that morning rituals are practices unique to each individual. Many of us go about our morning doing the same actions without putting much attention or thought around why we do them. After all, in this fast paced world, our mornings are often spent rushing from one thing to the next in order to beat traffic and make it to work on time. For many years before I started living a little more consciously, I knew that story all too well.

Morning beauty rituals – dry brushing

June 23, 2014

If Miranda Kerr is doing it, it must be good? If wellness warrior Jess Ainscough swears by it then I’m sure you are just a little bit curious?

That was enough evidence for me to have a go.

I am pretty sure you were thinking I was going to let you in on some crazy strict diet secret, but you know that is not our cup of tea. What I am talking about is the morning routine of dry brushing. And guess what beauties – it’s the next tip in our series on morning rituals.

So before we get into the nitty gritty, lets start at the beginning…

How to travel and be a conscious beauty

Holidays for many, including myself, are a time to cut loose on our clean living ways and indulge a little more than usual. However, as the body goes into holiday mode and we hit the ground at our new destination I feel sluggish and sometimes the sniffles will follow.

My husband and I recently spent 7 glorious days travelling through Tasmania for our honeymoon and there was certainly plenty of indulging on local cheeses, ice-cream and chocolate to name a few. However, as I’m married to a holistic health coach (the big brother half of Primal Junction) there was a lot of conversation around how we could travel, indulge a little and still return rested.

10 reasons to activate your nuts, seeds & grains for better beauty goodness

Have you ever noticed that you can keep raw nuts in the pantry for months and months and nothing really happens to them?

Nuts, seeds and grains all contain protective mechanisms as a method of species survival and are designed to pass straight through the gut of animals. These are chemical barriers that include phytic acid, anti-nutrients and enzyme inhibitors that reduce the body’s ability to absorb nutrients like magnesium, copper, iron and zinc and may also lead to digestive problems, inflammation or nausea.

Since ancient times, our ancestors have understood the limitations to gaining nutrition from grains, nuts and seeds and have practiced many techniques to prepare them for consumption. One of the simplest ways to access more of the nutrition from these foods is to try ‘activating’ them through soaking. For some people, grains and nuts may lead to inflammation and digestive issues with or without soaking and may need to be completely removed from the diet.

Basics of Green Beauty – Tip Five Say No To DEA and TEA

March 31, 2014

DEA and TEA

We have reached Tip Five now in our series, and while researching and reading through my green beauty Bibles I stumbled upon and interesting thought.

Why is it that there is so much written about the potential dangers of these chemicals, yet are there so little tests done on humans?

Julie Gabriel, put’s it down to the fact that no human is willing to be a lab rat for testing chemicals (with scary sounding names), that in their undiluted state can potentially be very dangerous. Let’s use the rats instead? That’s exactly what they do.

So Beauties! Remember this fact from Julie Gabriel next time you reach for your Shampoo –
