Meet Mukti, founder of certified Organic Australian skincare range.
Mukti, created the vision for her brand as a beauty therapist when she wasn’t able to find a product that she felt confident was natural enough to recommend to her clients. Pure integrity I say. Her brand officially launched in 2000 and became fully certified Organic in 2006, one of the first of it’s kind in Australia. And today, that stand for integrity still exists as the products continue to be hand-formulated.
Why a Conscious Beauty LOVE’s Mukti:
My interest in Mukti started when I noticed that her skincare range of the same name was the unbeaten favourite of many of my favourite wellness beauties. This included the late Jess Ainscough and another of her tribe – Tara Bliss.
I love stories and would dearly love to be able to meet each and every one of our ‘makers’ in person but sometimes that’s just not possible. So when by chance Mukti, a Queensland native, was in Melbourne in March this year we crossed paths at lululemon athletica I knew this was the start of something great. She is truly a walking, shining representation of all that her brand embodies and her generosity in supporting A Conscious Beauty has blown me away.
And now from the beautiful Mukti herself:
Tell us about your Brand’s vision:
To provide skin and body care products that are sustainable, ethical and organic (SEO ) and that also deliver results.
What makes your brand unique?
Each product has a unique native Australian extract synergy in quantifiable amounts. The extracts are specifically chosen to assist with the skin condition or concern. Products are also housed in Miron glass that is the most optimal vehicle for skin care. It actually resonates at the same hertz as the human nervous system and helps to preserve and prolong the product shelf life.
All our products are still made by hand and although this is ridiculously time consuming and labour intensive, they definitely feel and smell different to mass produced brands.
What are you most grateful for in your life?
My two beautiful daughters and my health.
What has been your greatest ah-ha moment/turning point in your life to date?
Recently being left by my partner of a decade who I thought would be by my side for life. It has been the most challenging, heartbreaking experience – a death I suppose – but has opened up a whole new world of compassion and awareness. They say these things happen for a reason…
What is your favourite way to nourish your soul?
Eating wholesome organic food, staying warm, watching a fire, the moon rise, the sunset, walking barefoot on the beach or in nature, yoga, cleansing rituals such as body brushing, oil pulling and bathing myself in black sesame oil a couple of times per week.
How do you live consciously?
I start with a daily morning ritual – yoga, meditation. It helps ground me and sets me up for the day ahead. I eat mainly vegetables, some fruit and super foods. Not big on meat for welfare and cruelty reasons.
How do you give back and support others?
We donate to charities and causes on a regular basis. I also sponsor a couple of children in India and Africa.
What does it mean to be authentically you?
To be honest and real when I am with someone and do my best to give them my full attention and be in the present moment with them. Not distracted – no phone, no computer. Eye contact, listening actively, genuinely receiving the essence of that person. To practice kindness and compassion.
