Girl Crush – Introducing Tara Bliss

December 16, 2014

We admit it, we have a Girl Crush on this beauty – Tara Bliss.

Yep you heard it right, and this one we are crushin’ on pretty hard.

Why a Conscious Beauty LOVE’s Tara:

I have to thank the beautiful Katherine for (virtually) introducing me to Tara. Katherine would share with me how Tara’s words and video clips had mentored her through life’s ups and downs and so I began to dabble in the wisdom of Tara. Her message is spoken with raw passion and honesty.

She is an ‘old soul’ attune to struggles of the modern woman, especially one that may have fallen victim to the party girl cycle. While I am yet to have the pleasure of working 1:1 with Tara, through her generous online material you see she wholeheartedly cares for every woman. She has crafted her spiritual voice through dedication and practice to all that inspires her work. Although I wouldn’t classify myself as a recovering party girl, truth is, there is something in Tara’s words for every woman (and man, even hubby has sat through a few of her videos!) – Ruby

I don’t even know where to start with my crush on this lady! I’ve been following her avidly for over a year now, after finding her through Rachel of In Spaces Between. Tara & Rachel are the two ladies who inspired me to craft the Girl Crush series and when I got a response from Tara that she would be happy to take part, I was a bit blown away (u’mmm totally stunned would be more accurate!).

Tara’s an authentic, honest soul who also is a super cool chick that you’d want to hang out and be mates with. I personally respect that authenticity and honesty shine through everything she touches. She’s also madly in love with her man, celebrating him and championing him as only a woman in love can, how cool is that! In a world where both being yourself, being vulnerable and being unabashedly in love can sometimes be sneered at, it’s refreshing and inspiring to see. Ok beauties, enough from me, I’ll leave you to read all about this beautiful author, yogi, snow-boarding, life coach and develop your own little crush! – Katherine

And now from the beauty herself:

Tell us about your brand’s vision:

Honestly, I don’t think in terms of ‘branding.’ That doesn’t work for me.

Everything that you see in the Tara Bliss ‘brand’ is an accumulation of elements that have been thrown together like a cocktail and experimented with over the last number of years. There’s very little strategy to my approach (though I accept it barely looks that way).

Rather than forecasting a ‘brand vision’, I prefer to surrender to any guidance I get on what I should create and when, what my website should look like, how it should function… It’s all a happy ‘accident.’

What makes your brand unique? What are ‘must-haves’ for your brand?

Want to awaken your inner rebel? I’ll show you how to do it with grace

That’s my opt-in promise on my website, and I feel good about the level in which I embody both those qualities: rebellion and grace. They’re a paradoxical pair that are ripe for our generation, and my anchored approach to spirituality is piquing the interest of thousands of women around the world. Something which is a thrill and an honour. Also, I’m known to say Soul and F*ck in the same sentence. (Wink).

What is your favourite way to nourish your soul?

This is my favourite question that I get asked and it’s the easiest for me to answer.

My sadhana – my spiritual practice; the way I connect to the sacred through ritual – is not only my favourite way to nourish and enliven my Soul, but it’s one of the highlights of my day! And I feel it’s really important to add that – Soul ‘work’ needn’t be laborious or grinding or even boring, it can the source of our inspiration, greatest joy, and at the very least, a foundation from which we can ‘come home’ everyday.

My morning sadhana then effortlessly allows me to continually nourish my being throughout the rest of the day, via the conversations I choose to engage in, the stuff I’m reading, yoga, the thoughts I’m thinking about myself… Sadhana is my gift to myself.

What are you most grateful for in your life?

That I have trained myself to be a rockstar at forgiveness. There’s very little-to-no bitterness in me in terms of what I may have gone through or endured in the past. I think the way I can forgive is one my strengths and it’s one of the greatest gifts I can pass onto my clients. Forgiveness doesn’t make us push-overs, it empowers us (meaning, to give power to ourSelf).

What has been your greatest ah-ha moment/turning point in your life to date?

In all truth each and every day is a series of a-ha’s for me. No joke. Each one is as significant as the other.

How do you live consciously? / Any tips for living consciously?

I’ll repeat what I’ve already so enthusiastically shared: Sadhana.

Just think about it for a moment.

You get out of bed, roll over, check Facebook on your phone. Before you know it, 15-20 minutes have passed and you’re still scrolling. You roll out of bed, and then dive into your inbox, maybe with a coffee. Maybe without giving your partner a beautiful greeting, or a cuddle. Maybe without looking out the blinds to see the show that the day is putting on.

That’s how you’re starting your day!

That’s the foundation you’re laying for your waking hours – one that’s rooted in technology having more power over you than you have over it.

That’s not how I want to live my life.

I wake, I give my man a big squeeze and a big kiss and I whisper into his sleeping ears, ‘Morning baby. See you soon.’ I rise, I wash my face, I drink some tea, and then I walk over to the beach, take my seat, and breathe and pray and meditate and journal.

If you want to live more consciously, bring reverence to the start of your day, and begin a love affair with nature. For me, it’s all about oceans and snow-covered mountain peaks. You might have a local park or walking track. Whatever you’ve got nearby, use it.

Maybe you’ve got kids? And if you do, you need this reverence more than any of us. Five minutes is better than nothing.

How do you give back & support others?

I post kick-ass, high-value, free weekly content on my blog. I give blood. I’m the sponsor of a 10 month old baby girl in Colombia. As well as premium coaching, I’ve written incredibly affordable books that anyone can access for little expense.

What does it mean to be authentically you?

To really condense this down:

It’s about shedding all that you think you should be, and instead letting what’s natural radiate from within. Authenticity is about detaching from tribal thinking and combining individuality with your own special brand of integrity, and then expressing that without fear of judgement or embarrassment.

High is part memoir, part guide, which unlocks the path to living a life defined by your terms, your passions and your purpose – not that of the trashy social pages.
