Favourite Finds – Why We’re Loving The Little Alchemist (Part 2)

November 10, 2014

The Little Alchemist

Does an express home facial before a night out sound like you? Or perhaps you might like to spend a Sunday afternoon curled up with a magazine and a face mask?

We couldn’t think of anything more blissful.

After discovering The Little Alchemist we were delighted to bring you the first of our two-part review on her skin cleansing range. Today, we present the second part of our review, in style.

The products have been reviewed in sequence of how we suggest using them to create the ultimate home facial. We suggest incorporating either the Papaya, Geranium & Lime Cleansing Milk or the Wild Apple & Mint Purifying Gel Cleanser to deep-cleanse and remove any make-up before starting your ritual.

pineapple micro polish

Pineapple & Zeolite Micro Polish

The micro polish is a gel based exfoliator with Jojoba beads for gentle exfoliation and the gel base was something I hadn’t tried since my early teenage years. To my surprise, it was extremely gentle but still achieved a level of exfoliation that I needed.

As with any of The Little Alchemist products, it feels like you are applying the most divine cocktail of fruits to your skin – much like you are on a tropical island holiday! This would be the most unique and exciting aspect of the range for me. The great thing about the gel exfoliation is that it could be used on its own without an initial cleanser. However, to give myself the full treatment, I combined it with the Papaya cleansing milk. We tested the mini versions of this and the cleansers and got at least 4 weeks and 2 weeks of constant use out of them respectively.

cacao and banana face glow

Cacao & Banana Face Glow

OH MY GOD! can you believe this ‘face glow’ mask? Aside from the smell of coffee these are my other two food weaknesses, so to combine them in a mask was just amazing to me. The mask needs to be prepared so make sure you have some filtered water nearby, a sturdy container and an old top on when applying to ensure that it doesn’t get mucky. Or better still apply it before you jump in a hot bath! After adding small amounts of water to achieve the right consistency, the mask goes on the skin very easily (you want more of a paste like texture!). The mask does dry out very quickly and feels quite hard but once it is thoroughly washed off, my skin felt light and bright! The large 60g jar will last at least 6 months if used once a week.

ultra c radiance serum

Ultra C Radiance Serum

This is the ultimate in serums! This one is certainly the lightest in smell of all the range but don’t take that as having any less impact on your skin. After using the mask you only need a few drops of serum, and it goes on smooth as silk! As suggested on the website (and from Katherine’s advice) I applied the Kyella Rose Antioxidant mist prior to give my skin a little extra nourishment and vitamin boost. Typically I would combine this with the mask and scrub, but it could be used at night if your skin is in need of a little extra moisture. It absorbs easly and won’t leave your skin feeling oily.
