Favourite Finds – Why We’re Loving Saya Skincare

Saya Skincare Travel Packs

We were first introduced to Saya Skincare when Ruby stumbled upon the brand while visiting Noosa almost a year ago. We are a little crazy about uber slick packaging here at A Consicous Beauty, so it was no surprise that Saya Skincare was a stand-out for us. Although we could talk for hours about the packaging, how about we give you a little insight into the brand.

The founder of Saya Skincare – Saya McDermott – started the company by concocting products in her parents kitchen around 9 years ago. After convincing friends and family of the quality of her products the business grew to a stand alone store, online store and is now stocked throughout Australia. You go girl!

From humble beginnings on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, the line has evolved to include everything from a goat’s milk soap, to mens shaving cream and face serums. You are top to toe covered when it comes to Saya Skincare! Saya Skincare is a stand for quality, and although the range is not 100% Organic, the essential oils are all sourced from Australian suppliers and apart from the goats soap it is entirely vegan-friendly! Saya Skincare is also free of all the nasties we love to hate.

Essentials Travel Pack – Product Review

Saya Skincare Travel Pack

Recently, Ruby connected with Saya’s team and revealed her crush and we were fortunate enough to be gifted their gorgeous little ‘Essentials Travel Packs’ to try:

Essentials Travel Pack – Overall Thoughts

This is a great sized and a beautiful product to accompany you on your travels. The handy travel pouch and 50ml bottles would fit easily & neatly in to your carry-on.

The body wash and the lotion products themselves easily last for the week, even with very generous, liberal use and would most likely stretch for two (and a bit) if you weren’t sharing! The body wash is the most unisex product of the lot, so happy days for those travelling in pairs.

For short hair (a bob or lob) – the shampoo and conditioner would see you through a couple of weeks. While travelling over a week and a half and only using this product, Katherine used a third of both the shampoo and the conditioner.

Argan Shampoo

Katherine’s thoughts…

This was the first product I tried and from the moment I opened the bottle, I was transported to a spa. This shampoo smells divine! I am a big fan of using oil on my hair and it is an every day staple for me (though I usually apply post wash). The fact the shampoo, & conditioner for that matter contain Argan oil, I was really excited to try. I tried this product over a week and found a double shampoo worked best for my hair type.

Ruby’s thoughts…

I personally have been a big fan of Argan Oil since I reviewed the oil here, however, until using the Saya Skincare Shampoo I had only used it in a conditioning sense. As a natural shampoo I found it to be a little heavy for my thin hair, but found that by washing my hair twice I certainly got a better result. The Bergamont, Geranium and Ylang Ylang certainly give it a luxurious yet natural smell. As this was the only shampoo in their range it will be great to see them develop others for different hair types in time.

Argan Conditioner

Katherine’s thoughts…

Using this conditioner meant I could forgo my usual routine for applying oil post-wash. A 10 to 20 cent-piece size was enough to cover my hair (short bob) and I applied it everywhere except my roots. Once again, the product smells divine and loved how it made my hair feel.

Ruby’s thoughts…

As with the shampoo, I was very excited to see the conditioner also featured Argan Oil as the central ingredient. I felt like the Argan Oil produced a better result for my fine hair when used as a conditioner so would definitely use the conditioner as a staple.

Lime and Lemongrass Body Wash

Katherine’s thoughts…

This zingy, full bodied body wash was a perfect way to start the day! I only needed to use a 50-cent-piece size dollop to get my whole body done. It had a nice gentle foam and was easy to apply, rinse and left skin smelling great!

Ruby’s thoughts…

The lime and lemongrass body wash is the perfect fresh and uplifting combination which could be used by both men and women. I found a couple of pumps of the wash was enough to use over my whole body as it foamed just enough and left it feeling silky smooth – much better than our sulphate containing friends! As with any of the Saya Skincare products, you can really tell the quality of the oils because they don’t smell artificial, but as if they had been squeezed straight out of a lime or extracted from a flower.

Mandarin and Patchouli Hand and Body Lotion

Katherine’s thoughts…

This product was my favourite and because of the easy size, I popped it in my handbag for extra applications during the day (I have multiple moisturisers on the go at anyone time!). A little bit went a long way and I applied it liberally while I was away. Over a week and a half, I had only got through about 3/4 of it – using it on my hands during the day, face in the morning (as I forgot my face cream … whooops), whole body after a shower and feet before hopping in to bed at night. The lotion was light and oh my goodness, smells delicious! I personally prefer creams / lotions to oil and found this lotion absorbed quickly and easily.

Ruby’s thoughts…

This product tied equal for me with the body wash. The Patchouli, Mandarin and Begamont are a perfect combination for any body lotion or even a wash (I would love to try that next!). It did take a little working to absorb into my skin and having used mainly coconut oil it was certainly a lotion in that respect. However, the smell won me over hands down and it would be the perfect everyday lotion for body and hands. Once absorbed my skin felt silky smooth all day, which is always a good test in winter.
