Body scrubs are the new black as far as the natural beauty world is concerned. If you aren’t scrubbing baby then this is post is just for YOU!
Body scrubs are an absolute must all year round, but as we roll into those balmy summer evenings and don our flowing summer dresses, they will become an essential part of your beauty routine. Not only will they leave your skin glowing, they are also fantastic preparation for any fake tan application.
Just like our other favourite morning ritual – dry brushing, the intense exfoliating motion aids in lymphatic drainage, reduces cellulite, and problematic skin conditions like acne.
Having never tried one of these infamous scrubs, I was excited to discover Jar Body – a local Melbourne brand that is 100% Australian made.
The JAR Body ‘flavour’ I had the pleasure of using was the “California” scrub, infused with Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba and Amygdalin a form of Vitamin B17 extracted from Apricot Kernels.

Application?
The beauty of an all over body scrub is exactly that – all over baby! As the base of the scrub is simply sugar granules, then it will feel quite strong at first but with small circular motions you will be in heaven after a few minutes.
I made the initial mistake of standing close to the hot water, but due to the sugar base I would advise turning off the shower for a few minutes so your scrub doesn’t melt away and you can get the full benefit!
It is advised not to scrub straight after shaving or apply the scrub to your face. Day one: shave, day two: scrub, day three: tan.
The verdict?
What most appealed to me with JAR Body was the simplicity of the formulations, minimal ingredients means less room for toxins! The neutral scent of Grapefruit, Lime and Orange Blossom, means the scrub could be used by you and your man. The scrub definitely left my skin feeling ultra smooth and my body lotion glided on with ease. Full points would have been awarded for all Organic ingredients. I would also transfer the scrub into a jar to extend the life of the product as the packaging is hard to re-seal.
