We hear ya beauties! Switching to natural deodorants can be quite the process of trial and error, right?
Finding “the one” that performs and smells like your toxic laden big brand deodorant can take a bit of work. We know that sometimes uncomfortable story all too well. Luckily for you, we are here to help you find your perfect match.
A couple of weeks ago, the lovely Irene – founder of Nourished Life online beauty shop – heard our cries and magically dropped her top four products at our door. Each one their own unique blend, smell and texture – ranging from a spray to a paste. We were excited to get sweaty one might say.
So here are our thoughts…
Fresca Natural Deodorant – Roll On
This was the first deodorant that I tried and it was my first time going ‘au naturel’.
The Jasmine and Ylang Ylang oils in the ‘Jaisara’ smells very exotic and reminded me of Thailand. Fresca is Australian made from a blend of pure essential oils and good news is that it’s totally free from the toxic nasties, aka: aluminium, alcohol, synthetic fragrances and artificial preservatives.
I wore it during a warm-ish stint of our winter, where it was between 22 – 25 degrees C during the day. I was undertaking mild activity in the form of my walk to and from the Quay to my office and a couple of blockies at lunch. I felt I needed to re-apply during the day and did have the fear of presenting in my meeting (cue arms glued to my side). For me, it meant keeping the roll-on in my handbag for a sneaky re-apply and freshen up during the day.

Mukti Roll On Deodorant
Like our friends from Saya Skincare, the gorgeous Mukti brand also hails from the beautiful Sunshine Coast. This is the only deodorant in the Mukti large range of products but the fantastic thing is that is is unisex so even my hubby had a go of this one. The scent is not too strong but still fresh and combines notes of Sandalwood, Clary Sage, Lavender and Patchouli. You just need to hop on over to the Mukti website to see how well-loved this one is, and I certainly agree. I had no issues with all day wear and still felt fresh after 8hrs on the shop floor. It is also the perfect size to travel with – bonus points for that!

Eco Spray Tan Organic Deodorant – Spray
The second one I road tested was a spray, which was different to the archetypal spray you get from the non-natural / organic deodorants. This one has a pump action!
This deodorant is certified organic and created from all natural ingredients i.e completely free from aluminium and any artificial ingredients or nasty toxins.
It also smells ah-mazing. Like seriously, seriously ah-mazing. This was Hawaii, the Maldives and Malibu rolled up in to a deodorant – which anyone who knows me, knows that smell speaks to me. The smell itself is a mix of fresh coconuts and hint of red mandarin – it smelled like toasted coconut, but that’s just me!
I felt more confident wearing this deodorant and felt I smelt fresh all day – I did carry it in my handbag just in case and reapplied after work before heading out for dinner. The pump did drip a bit, so make sure the lid is secure to prevent any leakages.

Black Chicken Axilla Deodorant Paste
Of all the products we tried, the Black Chicken Axilia Deodorant Paste generated the most curiosity amongst both of us. Yes, a paste a little removed from what I typically used as a deodorant – roll on is my go to style – but the moment you open the jar the intriguing spicy aroma hits your senses. The paste is a little hard at first so you have to be willing to get intimate with your pits (ha ha), but once I worked it on there is little to no residue so you wont get any strange looks in the gym. I used it several times over the past week including before a workout and it stood up to the test. I would definitely recommend this one if you are looking to try something a little different, and with ingredients such as Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E, you are doing good for your skin at the same time.
