We often experience a distinct flood of emotions when we are close to achieving a goal or completing a project.
Anticipation, excitement and sometimes a little overwhelm at what we need to do to finish.
Perhaps the most critical phase one might say?
The goal here is to refine the project just enough that we still “ship it” – as Seth Godin would say.
If you love the process of endless refining, perfecting and adjusting your goal then Part Four is the most critical phase for you.
As it happens, you are in good company.
For many years, I loved to wear the label “perfectionist”.
I’m not sure when it happened, but the self-imposed “perfectionist” label likely evolved during my Architecture career. There was a status in being one who attempted to create perfection.
Fast forward several years, I was working for myself. After struggling with motivation and not having a real boss, I began to realise something about my contemporaries. They knew a little secret – done was in fact, better than perfect.
When I’m with my 1:1 clients, and they want to elevate their confidence in their life or business I will give them a piece of homework.
I will ask them to produce something (even if not their best work) or take the smallest possible action forward (what’s something a little more uncomfortable that you could do).
Typically, their confidence doesn’t go backwards even if they didn’t get the exact result they were hoping for.
When I started creating the Dream Activator, my desire was to find a process. A process that the incredibly talented and gifted women could use to stop overthinking, stop generating ideas and start making.
As we complete this cycle, I like to use it as opportunity to audit, detox or clear out physically and emotionally. Much like you would in Autumn.
Acknowledge what didn’t work. Those things that no longer serve you. The lessons of the experiment.
Your tendency may be to rush through this time in anticipation of the next new thing. Or better yet, give up before the finish line because someone suggested you try something else instead.
As modern women (and men), we are being sold new and better all the time so we become obsessed with the latest trends. We want it now – but often at the expense of not finishing.
In this final step, we’ll examine how to finish strong and continue beyond the 28 days:
+ How to manage your energy to continue momentum, including your boundaries around creation time – planning for the next cycle
+ Designing a daily routine to support your goals
+ Completion and Gratitude
