Favourite Finds – Why We’re Loving Saya Skincare

Saya Skincare Travel Packs

We were first introduced to Saya Skincare when Ruby stumbled upon the brand while visiting Noosa almost a year ago. We are a little crazy about uber slick packaging here at A Consicous Beauty, so it was no surprise that Saya Skincare was a stand-out for us. Although we could talk for hours about the packaging, how about we give you a little insight into the brand.

The founder of Saya Skincare – Saya McDermott – started the company by concocting products in her parents kitchen around 9 years ago. After convincing friends and family of the quality of her products the business grew to a stand alone store, online store and is now stocked throughout Australia. You go girl!

From humble beginnings on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, the line has evolved to include everything from a goat’s milk soap, to mens shaving cream and face serums. You are top to toe covered when it comes to Saya Skincare! Saya Skincare is a stand for quality, and although the range is not 100% Organic, the essential oils are all sourced from Australian suppliers and apart from the goats soap it is entirely vegan-friendly! Saya Skincare is also free of all the nasties we love to hate.

Organic versus conventional: what’s the scoop?

There have always been mixed thoughts about the difference between organic and conventional fruits and vegetables especially when it comes to nutrient density and the impact on health.

We always advocate choosing foods as close to their natural form as possible, without the addition of toxins and contaminants before, during or after the growing process. Not only is organic produce more “primal” and less likely to expose us to pesticide residue, it has also been a recent topic in the news after the British Journal of Nutrition published a review of 343 studies on the topic.

Hydration for beauty with Lizzy of Primal Junction

Hydration: what is it?

The term “hydration” is used to describe our body’s ability to manage water, and not just about how much fluid we take in each day. Hydration is related to the cellular uptake of fluids and surprisingly, drinking plain, filtered water is not sufficient to ensure optimal hydration.

About two thirds of your body is made up of water. We can’t survive without it! Not only is hydration important for optimal athletic performance and inner health, but cellular hydration is also critical for outer health and beautiful skin.

We can think of water as an important carrier in the system. Water transports oxygen to the cells, improves nutrient utilisation and absorption and helps to excrete toxins from the body.

Many of us work hard (and spend money!) to reduce toxins in our food, eat a well-balanced and nutrient dense diet and promote gut health, but without proper hydration we can still end up feeling fatigued with plateaued results, dry skin, acne and/or dark circles under the eyes.

Morning beauty rituals – why make your digestion number one

July 1, 2014

morning rituals digestion text

Before I met my husband, I wasn’t much of a morning person. Five years of University studies combined with a few too many nights out doesn’t leave one rushing to get out of bed in the morning.

But these days, you’ll find me relishing those early hours as time to get both my body and mind prepared for the day ahead.

You know what makes me value these rituals so much?

I walk out the door in the morning feeling relaxed, grounded and at ease.

Favourite Finds – Why We’re Loving Metta Skincare

Metta Skincare range

You may recall, a couple of weeks ago we wrote about having a ‘Girl Crush’ on Anca Grigoras of Metta Skincare – a true beauty who Ruby was lucky enough to catch up with and learn about her story behind her range. We think you’ll love it.

Metta Skincare pride themselves on a range of products that are fit for everyday use, suitable for both women and men, 100% natural, handcrafted, and contain carefully sourced Certified Organic ingredients.

A Conscious Beauty was fortunate enough to be gifted the entire Metta Skincare range from the lovely lady herself. We were so thrilled and touched by her generosity, that we thought it only fitting to provide our beauties with a little review of her entire product range.
