August 19, 2014

There is nothing better that a dessert that is tastes good and your skin will love you for, right?

As you may recall, we spoke about the importance of hydration a little while back so today we thought we would bring you our favourite hydrating recipe from my new book Paleo.

This watermelon and basil granita is a hydrating, refreshing dessert or snack option particularly as the weather starts to warm up! Watermelon is made up of about 92% water and 8% sugar, with its deep red colouring attributed to its high Lycopene content, a powerful antioxidant.

Meet the Maker – Introducing Jacqueline Evans

August 18, 2014

We are thrilled to be featuring this beauty as our latest Meet the Maker – Jacqueline Evans.

So you might be wondering how we stumbled across this amazing beauty?

Well, the Jacqueline Evans skincare was one of the first brands that really stood out to us. The bold packaging and ‘go to’ range of face and body products made it hard to pass by. We first discovered Jacqueline in an unlikely but uber cool way when she was the Tasty Tuesday ‘resident Naturopath’ for The Design Files in late 2013. Ruby knew that she would be top of our list to sample.

Jacqui’s background in Naturopathy, interest detoxification systems and woman’s health provided the perfect backdrop for the creation of her skincare range. In the past year, whilst raising a young family, she took the plunge and committed solely to her brand to grow it into something that would hopefully become a legacy for her young girls.

Inspiring right! and cue A Conscious Beauty Crush.

Favourite Finds – Why We’re Loving Natural / Organic Deodorant

Natural Deodorants

We hear ya beauties! Switching to natural deodorants can be quite the process of trial and error, right?

Finding “the one” that performs and smells like your toxic laden big brand deodorant can take a bit of work. We know that sometimes uncomfortable story all too well. Luckily for you, we are here to help you find your perfect match.

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely Irene – founder of Nourished Life online beauty shop – heard our cries and magically dropped her top four products at our door. Each one their own unique blend, smell and texture – ranging from a spray to a paste. We were excited to get sweaty one might say.

So here are our thoughts…

Ask a Friend Survey Danielle LaPorte

A couple of month’s ago Danielle LaPorte, a woman long admired by both of us, threw this beautiful survey out in to the world.

Ruby challenged us to take it and today we’ll share with you our thoughts on the survey, what we felt about writing it and the flip side of how we felt when we received it too. We’ve also chosen to share a snapshot of the answers that were pretty special to us.

Enjoy beauties!

A month without dairy

Dairy and skin health

The links between skin health and diet are incredibly strong. Many of us grow up thinking we have bad skin just “because” but often, an aspect of the diet can be contributing to skin conditions like acne, rashes and eczema.

Dairy is one aspect of the food pyramid that seems to illicit many digestive and inflammatory symptoms in our clients. For those that are experiencing digestive bloating, sinus issues, allergies and/or acne, dairy is one of the first things that we remove completely to observe the impact.

For many, the difference is astounding and it’s something that is not often replaced!
