How these four entrepreneurs guided a dramatic career change

March 13, 2018

With the wealth of books, blogs, trainings and information available to us today, we can inspire the pants off ourselves every moment of the day.

But how many of these people (even if online or in books in my case) actually continue to inspire you five years on?

The very people that tell you exactly that nugget-o-wisdom exactly when you need it.

In the case of doing a 180 in my career, new ways of thinking, direction and encouragement was needed often to break through moments of confusion and fear.

These four people below, shaped my path from practising Architect to Life Coach five years later (while doing a number of other things in between). I still call on their wisdom, their quirkiness and original thinking to support my journey into business.

Because, as I mention in the video, you can’t and you shouldn’t feel like you have to do it alone.

What you’ll learn about in the video:

Marie Forleo:

+ “clarity comes from action”

+ Consistency

+ Employ creative thinking, and look at “out of the box” solutions

+ You do you and forget about the rest

Danielle LaPorte:

+ The importance of a “team” – you don’t need to have it all figured out, when I say team, I mean who’s going to really support you to get where you want to go. Athletes have a team, so why can’t we?

+ The inner work feeds into the outer work

+ Play to your strengths and let others fill in the gaps. See above note on team.

+ Make what you want to make.

Seth Godin:

+ Be very observant and curious – notice things that other people don’t

+ Be bold and don’t follow the rules

+ Even if you’re working for someone else, even within an organisation, you can use what he calls “emotional labour” – your job becomes a platform for expression, generosity and art.

+ Surround yourself with people that like to solve interesting problems and value all levels of leadership – leading yourself and leading others.

Elena Brower:

+ Use your story and bring your creativity into your work

Use your voice to empower others.
